Doug Sirutis

 
Doug is a graduate of Deland High School.  He  will be attending the University of Florida.
 
Doug was captain of Deland High Junior Varsity Soccer Team, Captain of the Deland High Varsity soccer team, Captain of the Varsity cross country team and captain of the Varsity track & field team.  He lettered 3 years for the cross country team, was voted most valuable player in 2006-07 and was team captain 2008-2009.
 
His best 5K time is 17:44.  In track & field Doug ran the 4 x 800 relay, 800.  Secondary races - 1600, 400.   His best times for the 4 x 800 were 8:23.  800 - 2:04, 1600 - 4:57, 400 - 0:55.  4 Varsity letters.
 
Doug has excellent family support, strong friendships and respect from faculty and community leaders.  He is an honor roll student and is the recipient of numerous academic achievements awards.  He is a member of the National Honor Society.
 

Andrew Roman
 
Andrew is a graduate of Spruce Creek High School.  He will be attending the University of Florida.
 
Andrew was ranked 3rd in his class at Spruce Creek.  He is heavily involved with his church in organizing the soccer team and all their activities.  He was co-founder and vice president of the Economics Club.  Andrew was a member of the Chemistry Club, JAMA, National Honor Society, Psychology Club and Epistemology Club.
 
On the track team at Spruce Creek, Andrew ran 100, 200, 400.  In the 100 meter dash he posted a 12:30, 200 meter dash, 24:63, 400 meter dash, 59:80
 
Andrew is highly motivated, personable and a mature individual.  He is consistently focused academically while maintaining a very active extra-curricular schedule, dedicated to a wide variety of activities and responsibilities.
 
 

Samantha Jones

 
Samantha is a graduate of Spruce Creek.  She will be attending the University of Florida.
 
A member of the Spruce Creek Cross Country team, Samantha was a two year varsity, 2nd year varsity letter, team 5 star/district champ.  In track, she ran the 800 meter in 2:40, 1600 in 6:36.  The team was the 5 start district champs.  She ran the Disney Half Marathon in a time of 2:19 and raised over $2,000.00
 
She was Vice president in 2007-2008 for the French Club and president in 2009.  She was the FUSE team leader, team captain for team tennis, MC for the Mr. & Ms. Spruce Creek pageant.  She was involved in the Young Republicans, Key Club, Eistemology Club, French Honor Society, Church youth group, yearbook staff, newspaper staff and has worked at Golds Gym and Spikes Athletic Footwear.
 
Samantha has demonstrated excellence and extreme determination as well as hard-work in the sport of running.
 
   

Todd Huckaby

 
Todd is a graduate of Seabreeze High School.  He will be attending New College of Florida.
 
Todd was a member of the Daytona Beach Supersonics Track Club from 2001-2005.  He placed 2nd in the 800 m AAU State Meet, AAU Junior Olympics Qualifier 2002 in 1500 m, 3000 m.  Seabreeze Cross Country 2005-2008.  He was a four season varsity letterman, he was on the State Meet Qualifying Team, Most Valuable Player 2008.  Seabreeze Track & Field 2006-2009 he ran the 800 m, 1600 m, 3200 m, 4 x 800 m relay.  Four season varsity letterman, three time State qualifier: 2006- 4 x 800; 2007-4x800 m (5th place), 1600 m; 2008- 4x800 m.  District Titles 3200m, 1600m, 4 x 800m, Regional Titles: 4x800m, 2nd. place conference 1600m 2007 & 2008.  Todd was Seabreeze Cross Country Captain in 2008.
 
Todd was a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Academic Boosters Club, Psychology Club & Ultimate Frisbee Club.
 
Todd is an honest, caring, friendly, and responsible person.  He is self-motivated and an extremely focused young man.
 

   

Kyle Ryland Hannabass

 
Kyle is a graduate of Spruce Creek High School.  He will be attending the University of Florida.
 
Kyle has earned three varsity letters in cross country and track.  He ran an 18:03 5K.  He mainly runs the 800 meter in track, with a PR of 2:05.  He ran a 4:52 1600 split at the Florida Relays in the 4 x 1600 relay.  As a junior Kyle received a 5th place at Districts in the 800.  Kyle was captain for the Track & Field team.
 
He was involved in the Florida Junior Academy of Science, he was vice president of the Chemistry Club, JAMA, loves to surf, snowboard and biking.  He has played the piano since he was very young and recently learned to play the guitar.  He has attended Embry Riddle Distance camps the past two summers and in 2008 attended an academic program at Cambridge University in England where he took courses in Neuroscience and Molecular Medicine for the latter part of the summer.
 
Kyle is a well rounded, focused and hard working individual.  His academic standing, leadership and community service achievements will take him a long way in life.
 

Joseph Elsakr

 
Joseph is a graduate of Spruce Creek.  He will be attending Duke University.
 
Joseph ran Cross Country for Spruce Creek.  He has a PR of 16:17 in the 5K, is a 4-year varsity letterman, was all-conference 1st team, US Second Team Elite, 5-Star Conference Runner-up in 2008, Individual State Qualifier and was 8th place team at State in 2007.  In Track & Field Joseph ran the 1600, 3000, & 3200.  His pR's were 4:45, 9:29 & 10:13.  he was a 2 year Varsity Letterman and placed first in the 3200 at the East Coast Classic.  He was 10th place at the ING Miami Half-Marathon with a time of 1:17.
 
Joseph was Cross Country Captain in 2007 & 2008.  He organized practices and summer training runs.  He was vice president of the Debate Club in 2006-07.  Joseph was also in the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society), Varsity Tennis, St. George Coptic Orthodox Church Youth Group, Frencyh Honor Society and participated in the University of Florida's Student Science Training Program in 2008.
 
Joey has outstanding athletic accomplishments but also academic and community service achievements.  He has a GPA of 4.62 in the International Baccalaureate Program at Spruce Creek and ranks 6th in his senior class.  He was also named to the News-Journal All Area-1st Team as well as earning his t4eams's MVP award.
 
   

Ryan LaPlante

 
Ryan is a graduate of Deland High School.  He will be attending University of Central Florida.
 
Ryan has participated in Cross Country, 4 yrs, and Track & Field, 3 yrs.  He received four varsity letters in cross country and three in track.  He was captain of the cross country his senior year  Ryans best time for the 5000 m was 17:53.  In track, his best times were a 4:56 in the 1600m and a 2:08 in the 800m.
 
Ryan has been a boy Scout for 10 years  He has served as a Patrol leader and earned his Eagle Scout by leading a community service project.  He is very involved with his youth group at St. Peter's Parish.  Ryan has a great knowledge of technology and of videography.
 
Ryan has strong friendships and respect from faculty and community leaders.  He has a positive "'can-do" attitude.
 
   

Argina deJesus

 
Argina is a graduate of Mainland High School.  She will be attending Daytona State College.
 
Gina was a member of the Cross Country team and captain her senior year.  She was named 2nd team all conference, honorable mention at districts, and was a member of the Mainland Running club.
 
She was involved in TV production at school, year book, senior video, softball, torch lights and holocaust remembrance project.  She is a volunteer at the Humane Society.  Gina placed 2nd. in the Foreign language festival in 2007 and 2008.
 
Gina has a real love for people and has worked well with her fellow students while producing various video projects.  She has a vivid imagination and likes to be creative.  She has set high standards for herself and constantly strives to reach her goals.
