2017 Boston Marathon • April 17

We wish all our club members the very best at Boston this year.  Running in this memorable event from our club will be Kit Doughney, Sharon Lay,  Johnny Dodd, and Bob Hamlin!  Congratulations to all of you on your efforts in getting to Boston.  The road is not always that easy but  we hope the wind will be at your back race day!

The thirst you feel in your throat and lungs will be gone in minutes.
After the race is over the pain in your legs within days.
But the GLORY OF YOUR FINISH WILL LAST FOREVER!!

Our Canadian Snowbird, Hugh Wilson is at it again!  From January 1, 2016 to January 1, 2017, he ran 97 races - mostly 5K's.(51 last year)

Around the middle of October each year, Hugh makes his annual trip to our area -  using Daytona as his home base.  While in Florida he travels to Jacksonville, Sanford, Winter Garden, Orlando, Mount Dora - all over central Fla to run as many races as possible.

Hugh is able to hang around and enjoy our Christmas party and cheer in the New Year (with a run of course, Last Gasp, Jacksonville) before heading back to Canada.

We look forward to his yearly visits!

Oh, did I mention?  Hugh celebrated his 77th birthday while visiting us!

Wow!  Beachcombers made a clean sweep at Lady Track Shack on January 28.  Congratulations!!!!

Bits & Pieces & Words

AN IRISH FRIENDSHIP WISH

May there always be work for your hands to do;
May your purse always hold a coin or two;
May the sun always shine on your window pane;
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain;
May the hand of a friend always be near you;
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you

Courage does not always roar, sometimes it is a quiet voice at the end of the day, saying...."I will try again tomorrow."

Even if you are on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there.  Will Roger

Remember your first run? The one where you thought you'd surely die? Nothing is impossible..

Keep Moving Forward!

It takes 4 weeks for you to notice your body changing, 8 weeks for your friends to notice, and 12 weeks for the rest of the world to notice. Give it 12 weeks. Don’t QUIT

"No matter how you feel. Get up, dress up, show up, and never give up."
