St. Paddy's Fun Run March 17, 2007

Almost 90 enthusiastic runner's and walkers attended the Beachcombers St. Paddy's Fun Run on March 17th at Spikes Athletic Footwear on Ridgewood Ave.

Karen, Colleen, Donna, Lori, Susie, Nancy, Sarah, Kit & Melody all chipped in to set up the food and decorate.  Jerry, Kayle, John, Amy & Joel set up the course.

The weather turned out to be a beautiful afternoon after a very cool morning.  About 12 young ones gathered with lead Leprechaun, Jerry Hiatt, with assistance from Carrie Rosolino, Stacy Ferner and Kit Doughney pulling up the rear.  Chase Rogers sprinted ahead to come in first in the Fun Run.

The Pot of Gold was filled with goodies and gold coins and several prizes were awarded in the drawing.  John Nablo and Amy Ellis were the 'big' winners of the day!  Amy winning a pair of shoes donated by Spikes and John winning tickets for the Beachcombers annual Cubs Night Out which will be held in July.

Amy Ellis, John Nablo, & Joel Greenstein - all dressed in their St. Patrick Green", led the 'big' people on their two, three or four mile route.  The trio kept the runner's on course and safe on the roads of Holly Hill.

After completing  their distance, the hungry runner's returned to Spikes where they enjoyed plenty of Irish Stew, sandwiches, Irish Soda Bread, drinks, cupcakes, and a special mint chocolate cake made especially for the occasion, by Colleen.

Little Ms. Jessica Dunham attended her first Fun Run with Mommy Courtney, the group of 9 cyclist that had biked up from Port Orange enjoyed a round trip home and many new friendships were formed as runner's socialized, visited and enjoyed the good food and camaraderie!

A special thanks to Gregg & Susie Eisele for opening up their home (Spikes) for us all to enjoy our time together.
